Staying in the Signature Suite with lounge access is definitely worth the price. There is courteous service and you can avoid the crowds at the breakfast buffet, for example. Breakfast and the snacks served in the afternoon are first class.
The hotel is certainly a few years old, but our room was relatively newly renovated and everything else we saw was well maintained.
The location of the hotel is first class - please remember that you are in the center of Saigon - it is certainly a bit noisier there in the evening.
I don't need to say anything about the prices for drinks and food, the casino or the bars. Of course, a 5-star hotel also means 5-star prices - and it's up to you to make the most of it.
We really enjoyed our stay and will certainly consider the Caravelle for another vacation.
It should be said about the Signature Lounge that it is a strange logic that a cheap 10 dollar cargo pant is allowed for men, but with a 200 dollar designer short, you are denied access. Ladies also have special rights there - because the very very short black dress is accepted in contrast to men's shorts. And my legs are really something to behold.
It would be better to find a different rule here, such as "no boxer shorts, basketball shorts and swimming shorts + no flip flops". Because with my shorts I can get into any golf club without problems, but not into the Caravelle Lounge, whereas my golf club wouldn't let anyone in with cargo pants.

Everything! Exceptionally clean. Warm, friendly staff. Large room and comfortable bed, great food. We upgraded to the King signature room with lounge access and a view of the opera house (room 1711) and so glad we did. The view was amazing with a seating area to sit and watch the hustle and bustle from above. Facilities in the room were outstanding and the lounge access was worth every penny! Private check in and check out, sunset cocktails and canapés (more like an elegant buffet spread), along with the most loveliest of staff and great views of Saigon, the lounge was definitely an added bonus and exceeded our expectations. I also booked in for an aromatherapy massage which was one of the best massages I’ve ever had. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough… interesting to read of its history as a war hotel too. Also worth a night at the roof top bar Saigon Saigon, a good Latin band play there most nights.

A real 5* hotel in the very heart of Saigon, right next door to the opera and one block from the main walking street. Very stylish and comfortable room, high quality breakfast, well trained staff.
Despite the overall great experience, there was one big con - ventilation:
1) unfortunately there was light damp smell from pipes in the shower and room - this is common here, but not in such expensive hotels.
2) the aircon did not have dry mode so the air was too humid. The windows are blocked so you have no chance to get fresh air.

The pool area let it down. Required more shade and it looked quite sparse

location was great. The hotel also accommodated our needs very well. The breakfast boxes were great and allowed us to get to the airport early. Beds were very comfortable. Rooms very clean.
First room offered had a damp smell, however the hotel offered us another room which was much better.

Amazing comfort and large clean room & bathroom. You feel Very quiet in room though located in very busy area. Accessible to good malls and food overall great location & awesome breakfast.

It's a beautiful hotel and the rooms inside are equally so. Lots of little comforts and the breakfast catered for everything. We stayed for new year then returned a few days later. Very thoughtful staff and.it has a great outside pool and spa. A perfect place to relax after a very busy few weeks of travel! Good location too.
Nothing, it's a big, busy hotel but the staff were always friendly. helpful and attentive. Look for a booking.com deal for best value to include breakfast. The room rates are good but the F&B can be exccy ( although delivlcious, I had the best cheese toastie in memory there!)
